A campaign directed to raise the awareness of farmers on the environmental and occupational health issues linked to the re-use of wastewater in irrigation, with the main objective to protect their health conditions and those of their families, helpers etc., is planned to be organised in the months of November-December 2014 in Algeria and Tunisia.

The campaign consists in the organisation of 2 information sessions in Tunisia and 1 in Algeria targeting farmers and the distribution of a brochure specially designed for them, to remind the basic steps for a safer use of treated wastewater for irrigating their fields. More technical information sessions will be also organised for representatives of extension services in both countries (2 in Tunisia and 1 in Algeria), so that they will be able to advise additional farmers in the future.
