Aiming tobuild the capacity of seawater desalination professionals from the water and environment sectors in SWIM Partner Countries a 3 days training workshop followed by 2 days study tour in an advanced desalination center in Europe is planned to be organized in March 2014.
The training will cover the following subjects:
- Fundamentals of conventional water desalination.
- Environmental aspects of desalination and mitigation measures.
- Fundamentals of solar energy.
- Research and development in desalination.
- State-of-the-art desalination using emerging renewable solar energy technologies.
- Economic aspects of desalination using solar energy.
- Financing and funding models of desalination.
The participants will be subsequently exposed to state-of-the-art operation and management of water desalination plants using solar energy technologies during the study tour.
The activity is organized by SWIM-SM in collaboration with the European Desalination Association based in Almeria, Spain.
